This questionnaire is part of a study of current aspects in Cloud Computing. The study is conducted by Humboldt-University at Berlin and the SRH University in Berlin. We will provide every participant a summary of the study’s results and concrete recommendations for implementing Cloud Computing. Please leave us your contact details at the end of the survey in order for us to send your article.

Most of the questions in the survey are optional due to the different adoption grades of Cloud Computing in various industries. In order to facilitate a high quality  of the individualized recommendation, we recommend that you fill out all relevant questions.

Security and compliance are the two most important issues that stand out from the many that exist. With the initiative “SaaS Quality Seal” and by working out the fundamentals of the legal background, EuroCloud has started important projects to improve the general framework for a successful implementation of Cloud services in different areas (software, platform and infrastructure).
This guide is a basis for the correct classification of the legal requirements and focuses on the area of Software as a Service as a “public Cloud service”. This has resulted in the emergence of special requirements pertaining to data protection, which schould always apply to all SaaS applications. The overview of topics is derived from the test criteria used by the EuroCloud SaaS Quality Seal which is a thorough test of “Software as a Service” products, in terms of service, data security, data protection, contract terms, and interoperability.

During the special event Cloud Live as part of the  DataCentre Expo in Düsseldorf the EuroCloud competence group Cloud Managed Services will hold a work shop with the key topic  “Management of Cloud Services for Supplier and Customer within a hybrid cloud eco system”.  A detailed agenda will be posted soon.

EuroCloud Deutschland_eco e.V. is asking cloud service providers and customers to submit papers describing best practices for cloud computing. This will allow the association to draft a set of guidelines to help users in choosing the right technology and services. This is part of the initiative “Cloud Computing for business and technology in Germany”.

Thomas von Bülow, deputy chairman of the board at EuroCloud Deutschland_eco e.V. said, “The relevant CIOs often still have doubts about introducing cloud computing for their company. With our best practices, we want to showcase existing, successful case studies. The guidelines will also help companies choose the right kind of service provider.” Best practice submissions can be made until 21 April 2010 at info@eurocloud.de.
