Cloud Computing Questionnaire conducted by Humboldt-University at Berlin and SRH University of Applied Sciences Berlin

This questionnaire is part of a study of current aspects in Cloud Computing. The study is conducted by Humboldt-University at Berlin and the SRH University in Berlin. We will provide every participant a summary of the study’s results and concrete recommendations for implementing Cloud Computing. Please leave us your contact details at the end of the survey in order for us to send your article.

Most of the questions in the survey are optional due to the different adoption grades of Cloud Computing in various industries. In order to facilitate a high quality of the individualized recommendation, we recommend that you fill out all relevant questions.

EuroCloud Guidelines Cloud Computing – German Law, Data Protection and Compliance

Security and compliance are the two most important issues that stand out from the many that exist. With the initiative “SaaS Quality Seal” and by working out the fundamentals of the legal background, EuroCloud has started important projects to improve the general framework for a successful implementation of Cloud services in different areas (software, platform and infrastructure).
This guide is a basis for the correct classification of the legal requirements and focuses on the area of Software as a Service as a “public Cloud service”. This has resulted in the emergence of special requirements pertaining to data protection, which schould always apply to all SaaS applications. The overview of topics is derived from the test criteria used by the EuroCloud SaaS Quality Seal which is a thorough test of “Software as a Service” products, in terms of service, data security, data protection, contract terms, and interoperability.

06.30.2010 – ScaleUp is announcing today the launch of a Germany-based secure cloud storage solution, much like that of Amazon S3, hosted in its Berlin cloud data center. This new offering will allow ScaleUp’s customers to take advantage of the low cost & flexibility of cloud storage. It offers compatibility with the familiar S3 API, but with no data leaving Germany, and is supported by the comfort of working with a German-owned provider.”

As the first cloud computing provider to launch in Germany, ScaleUp Technologies understands the privacy and security demands of German customers better than most. Throughout the past year of building its cloud service offerings, the company has worked to ensure that all practices were in full compliance with the German Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, or BDSG).

Andrew Weiss has been in the IT sector for 25 years. In that time he has managed several medium-sized IT companies in various countries< and led IT projects for international corporations in the field of business process and workflow management.

Since 1999, Mr. Weiss worked actively in various competence groups with his expertise in SOA, B2B and e-commerce and currently directs the working Group E-Business at the German eco – Association of the German Internet Industry . Since 2010 he has been Director of the newly established EuroCloud Deutschland_eco eV and coordinates the substantive work for Germany within the pan european EuroCloud organisation.
